As a project that focused on storytelling, I was asked to:
Make a short animation on a topic of my choice
Should have a story
Delivery: No set size or format.
My Approach
I came up with a story with help of the 3 Act Structure. For this project, I pushed myself to try a frame-by-frame approach using after effects to give more character to my animation. I also tried 3D using Cinema 4D and Redshift Render and was a bit proud of this project.
Process
01. Script
I brainstormed different characters in different situations and came up with a concept of a king clicking a selfie. Then I went on to polish it using the 3 Act Structure.

I went on to fill the line art of character, roughly, with colours trying to give a royal feel to the clothes of character and after that, suitable colours to the background elements to make the character pop.

After finalising the colours, I started making styleframes from the storyboard.

Before starting with animation, I set the timing of shots and actions using the styleframes.
07. Animation
I tried a new approach of animating - frame by frame in AE.
08. Sound Design
Once I rendered the final video, I browsed through some suitable sound effects and recorded some for the character.
